Julianne Farris Davidson

Abingdon, VA – Julianne Farris Davidson, age 91, passed on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Julianne was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late James W. and Elizabeth Smith Farris. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indiana and attended Lindenwood University in St. Louis following graduation. From there, she earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Butler University in Indianapolis and began her 30-year career in education. Julianne accepted a teaching position in Tucson, AZ and moved there with a close friend to teach. During her time there she met Richard Davidson who later became her husband of 67 years. 

Julianne and Richard relocated to Indianapolis for new employment where they lived for 17 years. From here, Richard accepted the position as the general manager of manufacturing for the Harley Davidson Company and they moved to Milwaukee, WI for several years. In 1986, Richard accepted another position with the Columbus-McKinnon Corporation for which they permanently relocated to Southwest Virginia. She and Richard were able to travel much of the country and world together. Julianne was a proud member of the Pi Beta Fi Sorority and enjoyed working at the Washington County Public Library for over ten years. 

In addition to her parents, Julianne was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Kinslow and Ruth Lahman. She is survived by her husband, Richard Davidson; brother, James Farris and wife Kathy; sister-in-law, Shirley Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with be held 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. It was Mrs. Davidson’s wish to be cremated following the visitation.
