June Jenkins Parks, age 81, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Smyth County Community Hospital. She was born to the late Frank Edward Jenkins and Jeston Pauline Rupard Jenkins in Laurel Bloomery, Tenn. June worked at the Washington County Service Authority, owned her own drapery business, and worked as a court reporter. She attended Pleasant View United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, June was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Fred Parks, Sr.; son, Mark Allen Parks; brother, Wayne Jenkins; sister, Juanita Booher; and brother-in-law, W.P. Henderson.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Fred Parks, Jr. of Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters: Helen Henderson of Abingdon, Va.; Dimple Malone and husband, Conley, of Bristol, Tenn.; and Janet Gregg and husband, Jerry, of Bluff City, Tenn.; brother, Arigle Jenkins and wife, Debbie, of Bluff City, Tenn.; three grandchildren: Bradley Parks of Kingsport, Tenn.; Carson Parks of Austin, Texas; and Leslie Perry and husband, Tanner, of Elizabethton, Tenn.
According to June’s wishes the funeral ceremony will be private.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Carrington Place of Rural Retreat, Va. and the staff of Smyth County Community Hospital for their care and compassion.
