Mrs. Karen "Connie" Dale Brooks, 65, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 25, 2011. She was born in McDowell County , WV , daughter of the late Willard Addair and Effie Paralee Hughes Addair. She had lived in the Abingdon area for over thirty-five years and had worked at Bristol Compressors. Connie was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to music and cooking. She loved her family and friends, and her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas because of being able to have all of her family together.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard "Joe" Addair.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Handy and his staff; Dr. Bulle, Robyn Harris, and other physicians and staff at Cardiovascular Associates; Dr. Peltzer and her staff.
Connie is survived by her husband of forty-five years, William Brooks; son Chris Brooks of Abingdon; daughter Deborah Brooks-Sproles of Abingdon; brother Larry Addair Sr. of Abingdon; sisters Judy Burke of Meadowview; Linda Tignor and husband Junior of Meadowview, and Brenda Kay Robbins of Glade Spring; four grandchildren: Austin Brooks, Zachary Brooks, Kiersten Sproles and Rocky Sproles; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service for Connie Brooks will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Bob McCormick and Rev. Calvin Gobble officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The committal service and entombment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens . Those wishing to attend the service are invited to meet at the mausoleum by 2:55 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be David Tignor, Larry Addair, Jr., Jeff Rice, Gary Camper, Tom Estes, Steven Smith, Danny Howell, Scott Vestal, Ted Burke, Todd Amos and Mitchell Brooks.
