Karen Lynn Vicars

Karen Lynn Vicars, age 56, went to be with the Lord as she passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2024. Karen was born September 24, 1967 in Chicago, IL to Donald Wayne and Wilma Joyce Vicars. Karen was proceeded in death by her father Donald and is survived by her mother, Wilma, sister Kim Briscoe and husband John, and brother Allen Vicars. 

Karen graduated Abingdon High School in 1986 and from Emory & Henry College in 1990 receiving a degree in Business Administration/Accounting. She worked in retail for both Magic Mart in Abingdon and Belk in Bristol for over 30 years as she loved working with the public. 

She loved to read, play the flute, and collected anything turtles or elephants. Karen was a lover of animals, especially cats as she cared for many through the years. Karen was also an avid sports fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. She and her family often traveled to games and relished their time together. 

She attended Highlands Fellowship and always gave the Lord praise for the strength and blessings He provided during her battle with cancer. Karen received wonderful, attentive care from so many at the Duke Cancer Center in Durham, NC and Ballad Health Cancer Center in Bristol, VA as well as her family.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Main Street Chapel-Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Allen Jessee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
