Katherine Anice Gobble

Abingdon, VA – Katherine Anice Goodson Gobble, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late Marshall Dallas Goodson, Jr. and Sally Willis Gobble Goodson on July 4, 1940. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Leroy Abner Gobble; two step-daughters, Melissa Gobble and Dinah Puett; and several siblings. She is survived by her son, Bill Otey of Berryville, VA; two daughters, Betty Russell and husband Tommy of Hudson, NC and Katherine Anice Crabtree and husband Billy of Abingdon, VA; three step-sons: James Leroy Gobble and wife Marie of TN; Donald Gobble and wife Wanda of Boone, NC; and Emmitt Joe Gobble and wife Tonya of Lenoir, NC; two step-daughters, Shirley Mims and husband Darrell of Granite Falls, NC and Mary Russell of Hudson, NC; three brothers, Richard Goodson and Marshall Dallas Goodson, III of the home and Alvin Goodson of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Polly Goodson of Abingdon, VA and Reva Hornback and husband Donald “Tiny” of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3rd at the funeral home with the Reverend Jerry A. Eggers and the Reverend Kirby Miller officiating. A committal service will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park where Arvil Junior Deel, Daniel Deel, Austin Hicks, Mark Kelley, James Reece, and Adam Wolfe will serve as pallbearers. Don Goodson and Steven Scarberry will serve as honorary pallbearers.
