Katherine G. Mock

Katherine G. Mock, age 96, of Meadowview, Va., passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Valley Healthcare Center. She was born to the late Matthew Floyd Mock, Sr. and Mary Neff Mock. Katherine retired in 1990 from the Washington County Virginia Courthouse where she served as Clerk of the Court. Katherine was a faithful member of Greenfield Baptist Church where she served in many capacities but most notably served as the organist for 50 years. In addition to her career and church membership she was also an avid gardener and had many other hobbies.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was also preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Brown, Nellie Breedlove, and Edith Irene Mock; five brothers, Walter Mock, Sr., Carl Mock, James Mock, Matthew Mock, Jr., and Warren Mock; three nieces, Shirley Frye, Dorothy Hearn, and Joyce Wohlford; and two nephews, Wayne Mock and Thomas Brown.

She is survived by three nieces, June Hoback, Linda Snodgrass, and Phyllis Thomas; three nephews, Walter Allen Mock, Jr., Glen Mock, and James Bolash; niece by marriage and caregiver, Lenora Brown; several great nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, Harry Parris.

A funeral ceremony will be held at Greenfield Baptist Church, 30080 Hawthorne Dr., Meadowview, Va. 24361, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Birchfield and Rev. Jim Cumbow officiating. Katherine’s nephews and the men of Greenfield Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenfield Baptist Church.
