Katherine Sue Arrington, 77, passed on Friday, May 25, 2018, in Russell County Medical Center. Sue was born in Richlands, Va. to the late Daniel Ray and Julia Cooper Arrington and was raised in Haysi, Va. She attended Mary Washington College, Radford College, and Emory University. Sue retired from teaching in 1997 and has since enjoyed living near her home and family. She was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.
Sue is survived by her sisters, Martha A. Farmer and husband Jack, Elizabeth A. Fowler, and Patricia C. Bacon and husband Randy; aunt, Katy Jo Powers; nephews, David Arrington, Scott Farmer, PhD., Bradley Bacon, and Brandon Bacon; and grand-niece, Sarah Farmer.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va. with Rev. Wayne Rogers officiating. Sue’s sisters will have a celebration of life at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, Va. at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, 136 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Ms. Arrington’s name. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
