Kenneth Egan Beatty

Kenneth Egan Beatty, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

He was born to the late Knox Query Beatty, Sr. and Margaret Smith Beatty on October 14, 1948 in Columbus, GA. He graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and from Columbus State University with his Bachelor's Degree in Business. He went on to receive his Master's Degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University. His life's work was in accounting, and he was an owner and franchisee of Liberty Tax Service in Bristol, VA and Abingdon, VA. He was a proud father and grandfather who enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He coached Little League baseball for 13 years. He was also an avid Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket football fan having held season tickets for 25 years. He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church in Abingdon, VA having served on the Finance Committee and the Administrative Council.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Knox Query Beatty, Jr.; and his sister, Jacqueline Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Hendrix Beatty; two sons, James Beatty and wife Tesha of Snellville, GA, and Mark Beatty and wife Abby of Fairfield, CT; brother, Douglas Beatty and wife Robin of Marietta, GA; two sisters, Suzy Revell and husband Doug of Columbus, GA and Laura Feagin and husband Eugene of Acworth, GA; and four grandchildren, Sydney Lauren Beatty, Hailey Morgan Beatty, Ava Grace Beatty, and Gavin Thomas Beatty.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013 at Mountain View United Methodist Church on Route 75 with Reverend Donald Thayer officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Mountain View United Methodist Church. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain View United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 18970 Middle Drive, Abingdon, VA 24211.
