Meadowview, VA – Kenneth Ewell “Bud” Gregory, Sr., age 82, a life -long resident of Meadowview, VA, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born March 9, 1933, in Meadowview, VA to the late Ewell and Mary Parris Gregory and was a 1951 graduate of Meadowview High School. Bud also attended several technical schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1957 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bud was employed at Raytheon of Bristol, and the Meadowview and Saltville Post Offices before he retired in 1990. He loved working on cars, computers, and two way radios. Mr. Gregory was a member of Christ’s Church in Meadowview, American Legion Post #12, and N.R.L.C.A. Local #40. Bud was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and pap-paw who went out of his way many times to help family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Gregory; two step sons, Donald and Dean Davis; two sisters, Ernestine Davis and Betty Sue Medicus; and son-in-law, Ike Moore. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lynn Gregory; son, Kenneth “Buddy” Gregory, Jr. and wife Betty of Glade Spring, VA; daughters, Michelle Moore of Meadowview, VA, and Mary Sue Thomas of Meadowview, VA; step son, Robbie Davis; sister, Mildred Gregory Counts of North Hampton, NH; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Evangelist Mike McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Todd Scott, Keith Slagle, Dusty Harless, Mike Bristol, Travis Davis, and Robert Counts serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Walt Moore, Tommy Repass, and Charlie Darnell. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
