Kenneth Kestner, Sr.

Glade Spring, VA – Technical Sergeant Kenneth Reed Kestner, United States Air Force Retired, age 90, passed on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Commonwealth Senior Living. Mr. Kestner was raised in the Poore Valley area of Saltville by the late Noah Isaac Kestner and Mildred June Henderson. 

As a young man he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he retired after 21 years of service to his country. During his time in the Air Force, he and his family lived all over the world including Alaska and Germany. After retirement, Mr. Kestner enjoyed working with the Johnston Memorial Hospital Blood Mobile where he served as the vehicle driver and performed other tasks. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Ann Wynegar Kestner; son, Kenneth Kestner, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Bise and husband Michael; grandchildren, Jeremy Bise and Jessica Bise; and great grandson, Elijah Bise.

Visitation with the family will be conducted 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Evangelist Rick Ramsey officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
