Kenneth Joseph Toomey

Kenneth Joseph Toomey, age 58, passed away on June 21, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. He was born on February 10, 1966, in Petaluma, Cal. to the late Albert Joseph Toomey, Jr. and Dolores Mae Modic Toomey Rash.

Kenneth was known for his dedication to his work at Grosses Recycling and will be remembered fondly by his colleagues and friends. Apart from his professional life, Kenneth had a passion for fishing and he cherished moments spent by the lake finding peace and tranquility in nature.

He is survived by his son Christopher Edmisten (Nikki), grandchildren Kassie and Edgar Edmisten, siblings Albert Toomey III, Shirley Church (Jimmie), Sharon Toomey (Tony Puckett), as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Kenneth's presence in their lives brought joy and love that will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Farris Funeral Service - Main Street location. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Cass Farrior officiating. Following the service, the burial will be conducted at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with David Church, Ethan Church, Michael Church, Aidan Church, Jimmie Church and Tristan Frisbee serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ayan Novruzov and the nursing staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital for the care they provided to Kenneth.
