Kevin Micah Davenport, age 55, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Seldon Coolidge Davenport and Thelma Christine Bishop Davenport on August 3, 1961. Kevin was a faithful member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church in the Spoon Gap Community of Washington County, VA, where he served as minister of music. He was an employee of Appalachian Tire in Bristol, TN.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was also preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Davenport.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra Poston Davenport; two sons, Jason Davenport and fiancée Jacqueline Del Giorno of Greenville, SC, and Brent Davenport of Abingdon, VA; brother, Alvin Davenport and wife Linda of Kingsport, TN; sister, Kathy Davenport of Sevierville, TN; sister-in-law, Linda Davenport of Hendersonville, TN; brother-in-law, Jackie Poston and wife Selena of Abingdon, VA; two nephews, Nathan and Eric Davenport; and a niece, Susan McDavid.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Eddie Gobble and Bro. Sam Haynes officiating. A committal service will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, VA, where Eric Davenport, Nathan Davenport, Greg Dingus, Ron Hale, Jeff Mink, and Jim Tench will serve as pallbearers. The men of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
