Kirk Edward Nairn, age 18, of Abingdon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord as the result of a tragic car accident on May 16, 2019. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, but lived his entire life in Abingdon, Virginia. Kirk was a member of the Abingdon High School Class of 2019. At Abingdon High School, Kirk was an outstanding athlete -playing basketball, soccer, and golf. He was an All-District soccer player and part of the Abingdon golf team that won the Class 3 State Championship in three of the last four years. Kirk was an exceptional young man. Because of his excellent academic record, leadership skills, athletic accomplishments, and extracurricular involvement, Kirk had received the Army ROTC Scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky. He was an active member of Highlands Fellowship Church.
Kirk is survived by his loving parents, Todd and Ann Nairn, of Abingdon, Virginia. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Edward (Ted) and Sue Nairn of Prestonsburg, KY, and his godparents, Alan and Glenna Buchanan of Abingdon, Virginia. He is predeceased by maternal grandparents, Cleveland (Sonny) and Betty Kirk, of Atkins, Virginia.
Kirk is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held
on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 11 AM at Highlands Fellowship Church,
22417 Watauga Rd., Abingdon, VA 24211, with Pastor Allen Jessee, Reverend Luther Roberts, and Pastor Nick Viers officiating. A committal service will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held
on Tuesday from 6 PM-8 PM at Highlands Fellowship Church.
Pallbearers are Gabe Boothe, Sean Canada, Jacob Bowles, Connor Creasy, Bryce Addison, TJ Taylor, Tyler Thayer, Tanner Barrs, Bryton Vandyke, Trent Cox, Zeren Belcher, Zac Dickerson, Jake Crosswhite, and Tyler Mullins. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Abingdon High School golf team, basketball team, and soccer team.

Kirk will be remembered for his love of family and numerous friends, his deep personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, and his love for students with special needs. Kirk leaves behind a legacy in the lessons he taught us: love others, accept everyone, live joyfully, and be true to your own self.
