Kreg Steven Thayer, 35, passed away at his home on Feathernest Drive in Abingdon, Virginia on August 21, 2010.
Kreg was born in Abingdon, Virginia on April 30, 1975, and has lived in the Watauga area his entire life. He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church for the past 21 years.
After graduating from Abingdon High School, he was employed as a welder at Magic Wand for several years and has since been employed by the Ball Corporation in Bristol, VA. Kreg loved hunting and being in the outdoors, but his greatest love of all were his three surviving children, Kellsey Shea Thayer, Kaleigh Suzanna Thayer, and Kolton Sage Thayer.
Other survivors include his parents, Donald and Eleanor Thayer of Abingdon; sister, Melissa Bozardt and husband Allen of Charlotte, N.C.; and brother, Kevin Thayer and wife, Michelle of Abingdon. He is also survived by three nephews, Kristopher Bozardt, Brandon Bozardt, and Tyler Thayer, and one niece, Hannah Thayer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Reverend Mike Hubble and Reverend Garland Thayer officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Allen Bozardt, Kristopher Bozardt, Matthew Blackwell and Joe Naffah, Kevin Woods, Phil Rutter, Anthony Austin, Anthony Nunley.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the funeral home.
