Laura Gerlene Taylor

Laura Gerlene Taylor, age 72, of Bristol Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1, 2016, at her home. She was born May 15, 1944, to the late Charlie Maynard McCoy and Lillian Faye Deel McCoy in Dickenson County, Va. Laura was a devout Christian lady who enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She enjoyed singing and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Laura was also preceded in death by husband of 36 years, Bob Taylor; three sons, Sammy, Ritchie, and Bobby Taylor; daughter, Carla Taylor; four sisters, Barbara McCoy Herring, Janice Deel Nelson, Cassie McCoy Walker, and Annasue McCoy Reed; three brothers, Shalor, Jerry, and Kermit McCoy; and a grandson, Jeffery Taylor.
She is survived by a daughter, Elfreda Woodard of the home; son, Danny Taylor and wife Robbie of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Kenny McCoy and wife Pat of Nora, Va.; 11 grandchildren: Amanda Mullins and husband Brad of Wise, Va.; Keith Taylor of Bristol, Va.; Jason Yates and wife Jaime of Wise, Va.; Deidra Hale of Bristol, Va.; Adam Taylor and wife Amanda of Bristol, Va.; R.J. Meade and wife Erica of Fayetteville, N.C.; Cynthia Lowe and husband Carlis of Scottsboro, Ala.; Jessica Meade of Bristol, Va.; Samantha Taylor of Hickory, N.C.; Shawn Love of Hickory, N.C.; and Bridget McCracken of Bristol, Va.; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Family and friends will meet at McCoy Cemetery in Nora, Va. at 1:00 p.m. (or upon arrival) Friday for a graveside service. Pallbearers will be selected from the family. Flowers will be accepted.
