Abingdon, Va. – Laura Ruth Vaughan Roe, age, 91, passed away at Johnston Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2021. She was born October 18, 1929 in Galax, Virginia to the late John and Bertha Vaughan.
A lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia, Ruth was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed needlework in her spare time. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Miller P. Roe; grandparents, Jacob H. and Laurel Belle Lowe; brother, Howard Vaughan; and sister, Bessie E. Roberts.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sue Statzer; brother, John W. Vaughan; sister, Bonnie Boyle and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 1:30 PM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating. A committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia.
