Laura Sue Blevins Barker

Laura Sue Blevins Barker, age 86, of Abingdon, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2018, while residing at English Meadows.  Mrs. Barker was a member and, as health permitted, faithfully attended Pilgrim Baptist Church in Abingdon.  She graduated as a registered nurse from Johnston Memorial School of Nursing in 1952.  She worked at Bristol Memorial Hospital and retired from Sullivan County Health Department.  Following retirement, she relocated to Myrtle Beach, S.C. until her return to Abingdon in 2010. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Barker; parents, Elmer and Leola Blevins; and brother, Harold Blevins.Sue is survived by her children:  Pam Leonard and husband, Ken; Phil Barker and wife, Debbie; Paula Kotzmoyer and husband, Rich; Pandy Lester and husband, Kevin; and Pat Barker and wife, Sherry; sister, Mary Lee Warren; brother, Stuart Blevins; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.    

According to her wishes, a service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA 24210, where family will officiate.
