Laura Sue (Lester) Comey, 77, of Charlottesville, Va. passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Laura Sue was born on December 3, 1937, in Washington County, Va. and was the daughter of John Carson and Vene Elizabeth (Stovall) Lester. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Linnie Arnett and Mary Francis Heinke; and four brothers, Jack, Robert, Jim, and Bill Lester. She is survived by her husband, Lyman Richard Comey; three sons: Bill (Melony Joe) of Alexandria, Va.;David (Sandy) of Chesapeake, Va.; and John (Christina) of Charlotte, Nc.; two granddaughters, Ashlin and Laura; six grandsons, Justin, Matthew, Brian, Mark, Hunter and Christopher; three sisters, Nancy Leonard, Betty Cline, and Peggy Robinson; two brothers, Ned and Ted Lester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura Sue was a loving, kind, and extremely intelligent Christian lady. Her primary interests were building a life with her husband of 57 years, spending time with her family, and expressing her creative energy through arts, crafts, and interior design projects. In addition to her most noble career as a wife and mother, Laura Sue was a school teacher, a real estate professional, and a research assistant for her husband who is a Civil War author. She held leadership positions in several community organizations including the Presbyterian Church. Sue and Dick traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe. During the last few years of her life Sue suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and was assisted by wonderful caregivers in Charlottesville and her recent home at Cedar Manor in Chesapeake. A funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church, 33234 Lee Hwy., Glade Spring, Va. 24340, with the Rev. Timothy Bird officiating.
