Saltville, Va. – Lavania Ann Stables Hess passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. One of twelve children, she was born July 9, 1940 in Makota, West Virginia to the late William Lee and Georgia Hurt Stables.
She graduated from high school in Bel Air, Maryland and spent most of her life as a homemaker. Lavania was beloved and respected, and she will always be fondly remembered by her family as “the glue that held the family together.”
In addition to her parents, Lavania was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Richard, Kevin, and Jimmy; two daughters, Sally, and Cristal; one brother, Jack; nine grandchildren, Scott, Timothy, Erin, Ethan, Jordan, Cody, Casey, Stacy, and Lexis; ten great-grandchildren, Lucas, Blair, Nora, Abigail, Carter, Ryder, Reed, Jeremiah, Trinity, and Alexander; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Glade Spring Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Paul Bufford officiating.
