Bristol, VA – Lawrence Edward Rasnick, Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021, at his home in Bristol, VA. Lawrence was a graduate of Haysi High School, Southwest Virginia Community College and Bristol Business College. He worked in Product Development at Universal Fibers (CAMAC) and retired in 2009 after a rewarding 37-year career. He was a faithful member of Grace Point Church of God.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence “Shorty” Rasnick, Sr.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Keene Rasnick; daughter, Melody Helton and husband Matt of Bristol, VA; mother, Mary Stevens Rasnick of Bristol, VA; brother, Jervie Rasnick and wife Jane of Davenport, VA; grandson, Isaac Helton; brother-in-law, Don Keene and wife Cecelia of Bristol, VA; nephews, Donny Keene, Tom Duke and Lucas Sullivan; and niece, Rebekah Sullivan.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2021, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Funeral services will be held in the Forest Hills Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Stephen Sneed and Rev. Richard Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Donny Keene, Todd Stevens, Ronald Tiller, Junior Belcher, Jason Rasnake, and Bobby Rogers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Duke, Josh Keene, Kyle Keene, Michael Wilson, cousins, Grace Point Church family, and Universal Fibers friends. Mr. Rasnick’s family requests the use of masks while visiting with the family.
