Lawrence N. Anderson

Abingdon, VA Specialist 6, Lawrence N. Anderson, U.S. Army Retired, born on April 2, 1934, departed this life on Thursday, August11, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Lawrence proudly served 23 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Charles Wesley United Methodist Church.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, John and Janie Anderson; wife, Phyllis Thomas Anderson; six sisters; and four brothers.
He leaves behind his step son, Danny Thomas; brother, James R. Anderson; several grandchildren; a host of special nieces, nephews, special cousins, and friends; and a very special niece/caretaker, Nancy Carter.
Visitation with the family will be held 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Kariuki officiating. Interement will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army and the Virginia Army National Guard.
