Layton Bott, Jr., age 85, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Cambridge House in Bristol, TN. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.
He was born to the late Layton Bott, Sr. and Defrona Mae Pippin Bott. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosa Evelyn Thomas Bott; and three brothers, Earl Bott, Jack Bott, and Dale Bott.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Wayne Bott and wife Gwyn of Wise, VA; three daughters, Teresa Bott of Abingdon, VA, Tereba Bott of Dublin, VA, and Tara Lawson and husband Kenneth of Blountville, TN; sister, Inez Slagle of Abingdon, VA; sister-in-law, Betty Bott of Abingdon, VA; three grandchildren, Rosa Bott, William Bott, and Katy Bott; great granddaughter, Kaylee; and loyal companion, Brownie.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Charlie Harmon officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013 for a committal service at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard will provide Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Defense League of Washington County, Inc., P.O. Box 2099, Abingdon, VA 24212, or the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
