Lester Wright

Bristol, TN – Lester Wright, 86, passed on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at his home. Lester was born and raised in Clinchport, VA to the late William Harvey and Jenny Bellamy Wright. He was a graduate of Clinchport High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Lester received degrees from East Tennessee State University, Hiwassee College, and Louisiana State University School of Banking where he received his Master’s Degree. He served as the first President of 1st Tennessee Bank where he retired after 23 years of employment. He volunteered with many organizations including the Kiwanis Club where he received the Hixson Award for his service.

In addition to his parents, Lester is preceded in death by his brother, William Harvey Wright, Jr., and sister, Louise Benton.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Shirley Wright; three daughters, Rebecca Wright of Charlotte, NC, Rhonda Wright of Bluff City, TN, and Jennifer Cox and husband Matthew of Bristol, TN; brother, Wayne Wright of Kingsport, TN; two sisters, Gerri Benton of Madisonville, TN and Joyce Frazier and husband Don of Bristol, VA; four grandchildren, Chelsea Simcox, Parker Cox, Sara Wright, and Will Cox; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, in Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Kidd and Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. Committal services will be held at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, in Mt. Home National Veterans Cemetery with members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class serving as pallbearers. Family and friends wishing to attend the committal are asked to convene at the cemetery before 10:45 a.m.
