Lewis Conrad Moore

Lewis Conrad “Connie” Moore, age 85, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Commonwealth Senior Living.  He grew up in English, W.Va. and lived in Bartley, W.Va. for many years before relocating to Bristol, Tenn. and later Abingdon.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Connie retired from Clinch River Corp. in 2011.  He attended Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, F.L. “Chub” Moore and Callie Hylton Moore; his first wife, Betty Lou Moore; two brothers, William “Bill” Moore and Ronald “Rud” Moore; and two sisters, Catherine “Cerry” Wampler and Iris “Bunt” Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Peery Moore; two daughters, DeDe Whichard and husband, David, of Abingdon and Dana Lynn Woods and husband, Scott, of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Canaan, Carah, and Jonah; stepdaughter, J.J. Alderson and husband, Curt; stepson, Mark Smith; and two step-grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Alderson.   

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. with Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating.  Pallbearers will be Caleb Whichard, Jacob Barnett, Canaan Whichard, Jonah Woods, Mark Smith, David Whichard, Scott Woods, Curt Alderson, and Jacob Alderson.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
