Lewis K. Snead

Mr. Lewis K. (Dude) Snead, 83, passed away on Friday March 8, 2013 at Grace Healthcare. Mr. Snead was a retired electrician. He loved the outdoors and gardening. He hunted, fished and took great pride in raising and training hunting dogs. As a young man, Mr. Snead was a great baseball player, and was a star on the Park Street Raggedies Team. He was recruited by numerous pro teams, but he decided to remain close to home. Mr. Snead was a Baptist and attended The Calvary Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Mae Snead; parents Thomas Bascom Snead and Margie Dorain Harris, son Charles Snead; daughter Diane Pendergrass; brothers Ed, Leonard and Thomas Snead; sisters Susie Pendergrass and Margaret Lawson, 1 granddaughter Jessica Snead and 2 great granddaughters Makayela Gomez and Maddison Snead.

He is survived by 4 sons, Edward, James, Glenn and Don Snead all of Abingdon; 2 daughters, Brenda McCracken and Linda Olinger both of Abingdon and 3 grandchildren that he helped raise, Kellie Olinger, Ashley McCracken and Silas McCracken, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lewis K. Snead will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 11,2013, in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harry Booher and Rev. Leonard Tenney officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pall bearers will be; Shawn Snead, Anthony Snead, David Scyphers, Silas McCracken, Jr., David Pendergrass and Danny Hutchins. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6 - 8 pm Sunday evening.
