Lewis Preston Montgomery

Bristol, TN – Lewis Preston Montgomery, age 82, passed on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home in the Offset Community. Lewis and his wife owned and operated Montgomery & Sons Store and Minnow Farm for many years. Mr. Montgomery was a member of South Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed farming and sitting in his front porch swing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Burg Preston Montgomery and Mary Blevins Montgomery; his wife, Jewell Rutherford Montgomery; daughter, Brenda Robins; three sons-in-law, Richard Robins, Roy Baumgardner, and Ray Lawson; one brother, and four sisters. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Pat) Montgomery and Daryl “Gabby” (Karla) Montgomery, both of Bristol, TN; four daughters, Janie (Ed) Roberts of Bristol, TN, Darlene (Bob) Baumgardner of Bristol, TN, Sherry Gail Lawson of Powell, TN, and Sandy Mitchell of Bristol, TN; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Floyd Nelson and Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Montgomery Cemetery with Donnie Fritz, Marshall Wright, Wayne Jones, Wayne Rutherford, Bob Mitchell, and Terry Vannoy serving as pallbearers.
