Lillian Edith Fowler Belcher

Abingdon, VA Lillian Edith Fowler Belcher, age 101 and formerly of Hillsville, VA, passed on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Abingdon Manor. Mrs. Belcher lived most of her life in Hillsville, VA before moving to Abingdon 10 years ago. She was a member of the Hillsville Senior Citizen Center for over 50 years and was a volunteer for Carroll County Social Services. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Polly Beasley Fowler; husband, Charles Belcher; son, George Belcher; brothers, Murphy, Pete, and Tommy Fowler; and sister, Shirley Schmitt.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ratliff of Abingdon, VA; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Belcher of Roanoke, VA; granddaughters, Sandy Prater and husband Ronnie of Keen Mountain, VA, Pat Ratliff and husband Randy of Grundy, VA, Wendy Dunn of Roanoke, and Darcy Gardener and husband Ryan of Wise, VA; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Minister Mark Gaminde officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Fowler Cemetery, Route 52 South, Hillsville, VA.
