Linda Barrett Fields, 65, went to be with her heavenly father, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born and raised in Washington County, Va., and had worked in the medical field for over 30 years. Linda loved sports and music, enjoyed sewing, and had traveled all across the United States and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Gertrude Barrett and Clarence Roscoe Barrett; brothers James Roger Barrett, John Frank Barrett and wife Patty, and Michael Henry Barrett; sisters Fannie Marie Stevens and husband Charles, Ellen Josie Parker, Patsy Clara Powers and husband Bruce, Mary Frances Quinn, Carolyn Ann Davis, and Julie Elizabeth Roark; twin siblings Carl and Carlene Barrett; and her beloved cat Savannah.
Linda is survived by her husband Joe Fields; sons Jeff Roark and wife Kim of Abingdon, Shawn Roark and wife Melissa of Abingdon, and Brandon Roark and wife Erin of Valparaiso, Ind.; daughters Mandy Yokim and husband John of Pittsburgh, Pa., Karen Lingerfelt and husband Allen of Hickory, N.C., and Sara Fields and husband Frank of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren Gracie, Sydni, Hannah, Josephine, Hayden, Frank, Oliver, Iris, John, Lennox and Jake; sister Barbara Jane Armstrong and husband Louie of Livinston, Tx.; brothers Clarence David Barrett and wife Margie of Salisbury, Md., Larry Clayton Barrett and wife Naomi of Abingdon, and William Gerald Barrett and wife Patty of Sugar Grove, Va.; sisters-in-law Brenda Gail Barrett, Sharon Barrett and Kathy Barrett; brothers-in-law Robert Parker, Cleo Quinn, Robert Davis, and Johnny Roark; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Linda Fields will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va., with Pastor Greg Alderman officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at the Forest Hills Chapel prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. The commital service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the service should plan to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m.
