Lisa Dawn Love, a beloved member of her community, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Abingdon, Virginia at the age of 67. She was born on September 11, 1957, in Washington County, Virginia to the late Roy Jackson Love and Delores June Pugh. Lisa dedicated her life to caring for others, spending 35 years in nursing, predominantly in pediatrics. Her career also included a significant tenure of 10 years at CGI Federal, where she continued to exemplify her commitment to service.
A proud graduate of the Chilhowie High School class of 1975, Lisa furthered her education by completing the nursing program at Virginia Highlands Community College and later continued her education and received her bachelors degree in nursing. She frequently visited her family in West Virginia, ensuring that her bonds of kinship remained strong throughout her life.
Lisa was not only a devoted daughter who cared for her parents for many years but also a long-time cherished loving companion to Jerry Sheffey, who stood by her side with love and support. The family ties extended with her aunt, Marion Reed, uncle, Gary Pugh and his wife, Liz, and special family members Lissa Reed, Kim Campbell, Claudine McCormick and Vicki Gilley alongside several cousins who will mourn her passing deeply.
An avid sports fan, Lisa had a passion for NASCAR, and spent many hours cheer her favorite drivers. She loved going to Myrtle Beach and spent many birthdays enjoying the South Carolina coastal area. Additionally, her enthusiasm for the Pittsburgh Steelers made her a dedicated supporter of the team.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wilmer and Doris Pugh; and her paternal grandparents, John Earnest Love and Georgia Gladys Ratliff Love.
