Lissie Quillen Roark

Lissie Quillen Roark, age 86, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born March 7, 1926 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Britt and Diana Mullins Quillen and was the last surviving member of her family. She was married to Charles Lawson Roark for 54 years, and he preceded her in death in 1998. Also passing away before her were her youngest son Jimmy Dean Roark in 1996 and her oldest son, Cecil Junior Roark in 2000.

Survivors include her children Katherine Figueroa (Luis) of Orlando, FL; Ruby Fields (Harold), Johnny Roark (Julie) and Diane Rouse, all of Abingdon. Mrs. Roark also had 12 grandchildren who were the most special part of her life, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and friends Betty June Quillen and Ellaree Houser; brothers-in-law Junior Roark and Robert Roark; special long-time friend Vernie Russell; and many more loved ones too numerous to mention.

Services for Lissie Quillen Roark will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon with Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Randy Roark, Keith Fields, Chris Pruitt, Matthew Roark, Trevor Rouse, Kirstie Rouse, and Josh Roark. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Fields, Luis Figueroa, Julie Roark, and Dr. Emily DeBord.
