Abingdon, Va.
Lloyd Clinton Bailey, age 82, was given rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, in Ballad Hospice House after a lengthy illness. Clinton served his country and its people in the U.S. Army as well as his community as a member of the Washington County Volunteer Fire Dept.
He not only provided for his family, but also friends and strangers alike. If he saw a need he did his best to fill that need. Clinton enjoyed his life and lived it to the fullest, and his passing will leave a great void in our community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sam Bailey; four sisters, two brothers; and one great-grandson, Baby Matthew.
Survivors include his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Emily Ann Bailey; daughters, Susan Lewis and Sharon Reynolds and husband Chris; grandchildren, Matthew Lewis and wife April, Katrina Thomas and husband Adam, Maggie Lewis and husband Casey Daughtery, and Elaina Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Bryson Carter and Bella Lewis; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019, in Wyndale United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor David Gibson officiating. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Wyndale United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 16188 Shannon Hill Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Mr. Bailey’s name.
The family would like to thank special friends Linda Slone, Gina Shortt, Betty Stewart, and Bill May.
