Lois Irene Kilgore Bailey, 89, passed peacefully with family present Sunday morning, August 21, 2011 in Johnston Memorial Hospital following a severe stroke.
Lois was a former resident of Coeburn, Virginia and had been living in Abingdon, Virginia for the past 35 years. She was an active member of Abingdon United Methodist Church, an avid Bridge player and worked crossword puzzles daily. She treasured her family, many friends and caring neighbors.
Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward D. Kilgore of Coeburn, Virginia, her second husband, Gilbert L. Bailey of Coeburn and Abingdon, Virginia and her sister Bernice J. Pedneau, Coeburn.
Survivors include her daughter Kylene K. Hilton and husband Mack of Radford; two step-sons, Kenneth W. Bailey and wife Rita of Abingdon and Jack K. Bailey and wife Margaret of Pounding Mill; two grandchildren, Robin Hilton and Kyle Hilton and wife Tisha; four step-grandchildren and their families, Tami Bailey and husband Dean (Skip), Melissa Bailey Hogston and husband Herman (Po), Patricia Tignor and Sue Huff; a brother-in-law, William W. Pedneau of Coeburn, VA; two nieces; one nephew; six great nieces and nephews; five great-great nieces and nephews; and close cousins.
Visitation will be held at Abingdon United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 24th from 5pm-6:30pm with service to be held at 6:30pm with Rev. Walter Weikel officiating. Interment service will be held at Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA on Thursday, August 25th at 11am with Rev. Clarence Dishman officiating.
