Abingdon, VA – Loma Lydia Waycaster Stanley, age 88, went home to be with Jesus on May 17, 2021. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Rev. Paul Stanley, a mother, grandmother, Sunday school teacher, prayer warrior, singer, servant to God and others. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. While the family grieves this great loss, they take comfort in the fact that, without a doubt, she is with God. Loma attended the Free Pentecostal Assembly in Abingdon, where her husband pastors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley Sexton “Zach” Waycaster, and Sylley “Jane” Waycaster; son, Rev. Donny Stanley; and grandson, Christopher Stanley.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Paul Stanley; two daughters, Phyllis Hubbard and Melisa Sykes, both of Abingdon, VA; three sons, Gwin Stanley and wife Sandy of Bristol, VA, Jerry Stanley and wife Sonya of Abingdon, VA, and Marvin Stanley and wife Tracey of Bristol, VA; daughter-in-law, Donna Stanley of Bristol, VA; sister, Macie Blevins of Damascus, VA; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several special nieces.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
