Louise Gabbert Darlington, 79, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of West Virginia, but had lived in the Washington County,Va. area since 1965. She was very proud to have been an operator with CP Telephone Company in her early working life. However, as her family began, she was a homemaker, working as a wonderful cook, raising four children, quilting and crocheting.
Louise was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Ada Dotson Gabbert; brothers Lloyd, Leroy, and Dennie Gabbert; and sister Ruth Alderson.
Surviving Louise are her husband Frank Darlington; sons Dennis Darlington of Glade Spring, and Daryl Darlington and wife Tina of Honesdale, Pa.; daughters Pamela Holmes and husband Robert, and Darlene Ferguson and husband Darrell, all of Glade Spring; grandchildren Whitney Schnelle and husband Matt, Brittany Holmes and husband Taito Eguchi, Brandon Holmes, Amanda Ferguson, Nathan Ferguson, and Riley Darlington; great-grandchildren Noah, Ezra and Toby Schnelle.
A funeral service for Louise Gabbert Darlington will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with cousin and Pastor Robert Hefner, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. 2:00p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Glade Spring. Casket bearers will be selected from family and friends.
