Louise Widener Roark, age 93, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at her daughter’s home. She was born November 12, 1925, to the late Thomas J. Widener and Laura Mason Widener. She was a faithful member of the Trigg Street Church of God.
In addition to her parents, Louise was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Winford “June” Roark, Jr.; son, Roger Dale Roark and wife, Judy; daughter, Rita Joyce Wright; and four siblings.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Wayne Roark and wife, Diana, of Bluff City, Tenn.; two daughters, Kathy Kestner and husband, Sam, of Abingdon and Angela Carr and husband, Trey, of Saltville, Va.; brother, Ben Widener of Damascus, Va.; sister, Catherine Martin and husband, Bob, of Chilhowie, Va.; son-in-law, Jerry Lee Wright of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
