Luther "Luke" Parris, 74, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
He was born May 29, 1935 in Washington County, VA and was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Blackwell Parris. He served with the U.S. Air Force for seven years and was a life member of the Washington County Moose Family Center, 1966. He enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Parris; and sisters, Irene Moore, Maxie Murray, and Dorothy Parris.
Survivors are his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Parris; his son and best friend, Mark Jason Parris of the home; a grandson, Mark Dotson; brothers, Hunter and Buddy Parris of Abingdon; sisters, Katie Murray and Betty Parris of Abingdon; and a special nephew, Heagan Winebarger.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service Monday. A committal service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tom Watson, Paul Worley, Ralph Castle, James Castle, Bill Sparks, and Bill Snodgrass. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Moose Lodge.
