Mechanicsburg, PA - Magnolia Rose “Maggie” McCown, age 12 and formerly of Abingdon, VA, passed on Oct. 31, 2019. Maggie was bright and full of energy. Everyone was so looking forward to watching her grow up and seeing how she would impact the world. We'll never know what she might’ve done, but in her short life she did have an impact. She loved many people with her whole heart, and so many people loved her. She was a sweet, joyful light in the world that burned out far too soon.
Maggie is survived by her mother, Debra McCown Thomas, father, stepfather, grandparents, many loving relatives, and many caring friends in South Carolina and in Abingdon, Virginia, which she always thought of as home. She loved them all.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Abingdon Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Steven Pollard and Dr. William J. Bryan officiating. A private family committal service will be held in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
