Mamie Ruth Graybeal Bailey

Abingdon, VA – Mamie Ruth Graybeal Bailey, daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie Roark Grabeal, age 89, passed from this life to take her place with her God and family in Heaven on May 15, 2017. Mamie was a Godly woman who loved God and family, her friends, and her church. Her children were still her children and Mom still worried about them and prayed for them. If she could have, she would have paid all our bills, healed all our sicknesses and wiped away all of our tears. The life she lived for the Lord set an example for us all.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Virgil Lewis Bailey; sons-in-law, Ellis Y. Flanagan, Jr., and William Eugene Lowe; infant granddaughter, Samantha Bailey; three brothers, and two sisters.

Mamie is survived by her daughters, Madeline Harrington and husband Willis of Marion VA, Frances Flanagan of Abingdon, VA, and Linda Lowe of Abingdon, VA; three sons, Herbert Bailey and wife Pat of Abingdon, VA, Don Bailey and wife Brenda, and Barry Bailey and wife Beverly, all of Abingdon, VA; brother, Garland Graybeal and wife Nona of Abingdon, VA; sister, Bertha Wise of Abingdon, VA; eight grandchildren, Kim Harris and husband Steve, Andrea Harless and husband Paul, Heather Walters and husband Jeff, Kelly Statzer and husband Josh, Chad Bailey and wife Samantha, Greg Bailey and wife Beverly, Brad Bailey, and Eric Bailey; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Spoon Gap Freewill Baptist Church, 21110 Spoon Gap Road, Abingdon, VA, with Rev. Herbert Bailey and Rev. Gary Roark officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Greg Bailey, Chad Bailey, Paul Harless, Steve Harris, Josh Statzer, and Jeff Walters serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of the Church
