Dateline: Richmond, Virginia Mrs. Marceline Bowen Thornton, age 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2015, at our Lady of Hope in Richmond, Virginia. She was born November 2, 1929, in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Grover and Bessie Brown Bowen. Besides her parents Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul E. Thornton, and daughter, Jane Thornton Allison. Mrs. Thornton is survived by her daughter, Gail T. Coleman, and husband Herbert R. Coleman, granddaughters, Kaitlin J. Coleman and Ashley P. Coleman. Her brother, Robert Bowen and his wife, Myrtle. Mrs. Thornton was an active member of the Abingdon Baptist Church. She was an avid bridge player and never missed an opportunity to play. Mrs. Thornton was a very generous woman who loved to cook for her friends and family. She will be missed by all who loved her. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Steven W. Pollard officiating.
