Margaret Ann Preston Davis

Dateline: Glade Spring, VA- Margaret Ann Preston Davis, age 78, of Glade Spring, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, July 13, 2015, at her home. She was the third of seven children born to the late Trigg Daniel Preston and Hannah V. Johnson Preston on March 10, 1937, in Washington County, VA. Margaret was a 1956 graduate of Douglass High School in Bristol, VA. She relocated to Rochester, NY where she was employed and retired as a nurse tech from Genesee Hospital. She was later employed by Chesapeake Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA, but returned to Glade Spring, VA in 1997 to care for her brother and she became a volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Margaret was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Community Church serving as Building Fund Treasurer and a member of the Usher Board. It was said that Margaret could be seen being the first to greet people with that beautiful God giving smile of hers. She has always enjoyed traveling from a young age including several cruise trips. Margaret traveled a lot with her cousin, Elizabeth, and her friend, Kim Williams, who she often affectionally referred to as her “adopted daughter”, as well as, Joanne Harden and Pam Hogston, who Margaret clearly let you know were part of the family. Margaret’s car tags appropriately read “Ma Davis”. In addition to her parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Preston and Elsie Preston; and her brother, Jack Preston. She is survived by her son, Loren Eric Davis (Lisa) of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Diane Lynn Price (Rick) of Hilton, NY; two brothers, Daniel Preston of Glade Spring, VA and Monroe Preston of Farmville, VA; sister, Della Skipper of Virginia Beach, VA; foster sister, Rachel Arend of Rochester, NY; aunt, Bernice Lowry (Jack) of Rochester, NY; three grandchildren, Lareina, Dominique, and Larissa Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a special friend, Kim. Family visitation will be from 6:00p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A home going ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18th at Mt. Calvary Community Church, 923 Crescent Drive, Glade Spring, VA 24340, with the Rev. Melvin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery where nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Prince Coleman, Dennis Hill, Doug Hill, Billy Bradley, Tony Surber, and Charles Coleman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Community Church Building Fund.
