Margaret Helen Ball Carter, a dedicated employee at Penn Stuart Law Firm for 47 years, has peacefully passed away at NHC Johnson City, TN. Born on October 13, 1939, in Washington County, VA. to the late Manley K. Ball and Sarah Florence Darnell Ball, Margaret was a cherished individual known for her kindness and welcoming nature that always put others at ease.
In her free time, Margaret found joy in following Virginia Tech football games and exploring new places through her travels with Sunshine Bus Tours. Her love for animals, especially cats, was evident to all who knew her. She was a faithful member of Meadowview United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ryburn Carter; siblings, Jim Ball, J.C. Ball, Kathleen Ball, Marie Ball Cannon, and Eleanor Ball Poston; nieces and nephews, Cathy Cannon Thomas, Larry Hanks and Billy Ball.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Farris Funeral Service- Main Street Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00pm at Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Barbara Farmer and Rev. Lisa Bryant officiating. The burial will follow at Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Hartley, Kenny Carter, Dale Carter, Farley Thomas, Michael Ratliff, and Harold "Bobby" Lewis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Hartley, Allen Shipley, Johnny Ray Woodby, Bob Hicks, Wayne Ball and Johnny Ball.
Margaret is survived by her loving family and friends, including Jean P. Eades, Joan Hartley, Betty Ball, Joyce Ratliff, Martha Hinkle, Darlene Clark, Wayne Ball, Johnny Ball, Kenny Carter and Dale Carter (nieces and nephews), along with many other nieces and nephews.
Margaret Helen Ball Carter will be remembered for her dedication to her work, her passion for life's simple pleasures, and most importantly, for the love she shared with those around her.
The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Johnson City for the care that was provided to Margaret during her stay there.
