Margaret Duty Gullett

Margaret Duty Gullett, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Valley Health Care after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Margaret was born in Russell County, VA to Thomas J. Duty and Maggie Griffie Duty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her eight brothers, one sister, and her loving husband, Hansel Russell Gullett and also her little loves, her poodles Honey Bear and Sugar Bear.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Alma Fischman and her husband, Ira, along with many nieces and nephews.

Margaret graduated from Lebanon High School and attended Bluefield Secretarial School and Mary Dalton Frye Secretarial School in Abingdon. Margaret and her sister moved and pursued modeling jobs in Atlanta, GA. She met and married her husband and started a long time career with The Wall Street Journal where she retired and later made her home back in Abingdon. Margaret lived a wonderful life with her husband, she had a love for fashion and decorating and enjoyed reading and tending to her flower gardens.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
