Margaret Pauline Epling

Margaret Pauline “Peggy” Epling, age 86, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Grace Healthcare. She was a founding member and taught Sunday school at the First Christian Church of Abingdon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Green McClanahan and Virgie Stiltner McClanahan; husband, Guy Epling; and nine siblings. Peggy is survived by her son, Clayton Lee Shortridge and wife Pat of Cedar Bluff, Va.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the First Christian Church, 185 Old Jonesboro Rd., Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Minister Tom Crise and Minister Howard Taylor officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4th at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with entombment to follow. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Peggy’s honor.
