Margaret Ann White, a beloved member of the Abingdon community, passed away on July 22, 2023, at NHC Bristol. She was born on April 6, 1938, in Washington County, VA to the late Ballard Phelps and Martha Lucille Mitchell Phelps.
Margaret lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for her family and friends to hold dear. Graduating from Greendale High School, Margaret demonstrated a commitment to education that would shape her future endeavors.
One of Margaret's greatest joys in life was spending time with her husband, Fred. Together they embarked on numerous adventures, attending Emory & Henry College football games and exploring the great outdoors through camping and hiking trips. Margaret had an unwavering love for reading and found solace within the pages of countless books.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald "Fred" White, and her brother, Holly Phelps.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Donna Worley and son-in-law Kevin Worley. Their son Christopher Worley brought happiness and laughter into Margaret's life as her precious grandson. She is also survived by her sister Devada Holinda.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 3:00 pm, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Those attending the graveside service are asked to be at the cemetery by 2:45 pm.
Margaret's departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her best. However, she will forever be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to those she cherished most.
May we find comfort in celebrating Margaret Ann White's remarkable life and the captivating legacy she leaves behind.
