Marion Frances Murray

Abingdon, VA – Marion Frances Murray, age 79, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Murray was born in Honaker, VA to the late Burk John Ray and Flora Ray Carrier. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Dunn, and brother, Jimmy Garland Ray. Frances was a faithful wife, loving mother and homemaker who raised four children in a loving Christian home. She chose to always see the good in people and offered her friendship unconditionally to everyone she met. Frances was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ernest (Bunch-Ernie) Murray; one daughter, Angela Lynn Blevins and husband Eddie; three sons, Michael Thomas Murray and wife Pam, Tracy Dean Murray and wife Kathy, and Burk John Murray and wife Lorie; one sister, Lois Murray; four granddaughters, Brandi Jill Gregory and husband Steve, Kristi Jill Murray, Erin Elizabeth Powers and husband Travis, and Andrea McKenna Murray; one grandson, Austin Tyler Riley Blevins; three great-grandsons, Kaden Gregory, Quinten Gregory, and Lucas Powers; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, VA with Dr. Austin Cook and Dr. Stan Anderson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. just prior to the service at the church. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mt. View Methodist Cemetery with members of the church serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to travel in procession to the cemetery are asked to convene at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, by 10:30 a.m. Friday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058, in Mrs. Murray’s name.
