Abingdon, VA Mrs. Marion J. Bryant, age 79, passed away Thursday evening, October 2, 2014 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Arkansas. However, being married to a serviceman, she lived in many parts of the country. She moved to Abingdon in 1974, where she has made her home since. Mrs. Bryant was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Virginia Highlands Community College after 20 years of service in the maintenance department. Mrs. Bryant will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and doting mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Mrs. Bryant is survived by her husband, Tommie Eddie Bryant; two sons, Jerry Lynn Bryant and wife Marsha of Glade Spring, and Gary Lynn Bryant and wife Christi of Abingdon; three brothers: Louis Pitts and James L. Pitts, both of Ola, AR, and Henry Pitts of California; four sisters: Ruth Clay of Ola, AR; Betty Clay of Little Rock, AR; Dorothy Wong of Zephyr Hills, FL; and Thelma Butler of Atkins, AR; two granddaughters: Brittany Prater and husband Ethan, and Chelsey Bryant; and two great-grandchildren, Enoch Thomas and Silas James Prater. A private graveside service for Mrs. Marion J. Bryant will be held on Saturday October 4, 2014 in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Bryan Treadway and Ethan Prater officiating.
