Mrs. Marita Lee McLean Ball, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in the Maple Grove Health Care Center, Lebanon, Va. She was a native of Lenoir, N.C. and had lived in Bristol, Va. for the past 58 years. Marita was a graduate of Virginia Highlands Community College, where she studied office management and made that her career during her working years. She attended First Assembly of God in Bristol, Va. and Abingdon. She played the piano and organ for over 50 years and served as choir director for over 30 years.
Marita was predeceased by her parents, John F. and Fannie A. McLean; brothers, Dayton, Robert, Maynard, Herbert, and David McLean.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, Sidney A. Ball; son, Jonathan Ball of Bristol, Va.: daughters, Patricia Owen of Howard, Mich. and Linda Light of Bluff City, Tenn.; brother, Gordon McLean of Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren, Megan (M.J.) Light, Brandon Ball, Samantha Ball, Caleb Owen, Nathan Owen, Susana Owen, and Rebecca Owen; great-grandchildren, Karmynn Earls, Landin Earls, and Braelynn Earls.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, Va. with Pastor Roger Williams officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
