Abingdon, VA Mark Brady Caruthers, a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, age 59, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 18, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mark was raised in Otsego, MI and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He moved to Southwest Virginia in 1984 and was employed by CGI Federal as a senior IT consultant. Mark had a passion for music, playing the guitar, Karate, Ju-Jitsu, and his grandchildren. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, he enjoyed life, and was of the Christian faith. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Claude Caruthers; and mother and step father, Roberta Olsen Bauer and William Bauer.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda Anderson Caruthers; son, Johnathon Charles Widener; and grandchildren, Mason Chandler Jessee, Alizabeth Marie Widener, and Gabriel Ryan Widener.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Don Paxton officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
