Mr. Mark E. Pratt, Sr., age 71, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Jackhorn, KY on November 22, 1939, second son of J.C. and Anna Pratt. He retired in 2000 from Marion Correctional Center as Building and Grounds Superintendent. For forty years he had worked in different hospitals as Chief Engineer, including Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, St. Jude's Hospital in Kenner, LA, and Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he attended Fletcher's Chapel. He loved to camp, play music, and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Jimmy R. Pratt.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Yvonne Rose Pratt; his children: Mark Pratt, Jr. and wife Kaye; Mary Pratt Owens and husband Michael; Bobby Pratt; and James Pratt and wife Tammy, all of Abingdon; his grandchildren: Crystal Pratt, LeighAnna Owens, Luke Pratt, Paul Pratt, Jacob Pratt; step-grandchildren Jessica and Riley; great-grandchildren: Kalie Orr, Jordan Pratt and Kinley Pratt; his brothers: Bill Pratt and Lonnie Pratt, and his sister Sharon Meade, all of Kentucky; and several extended family members.
The funeral service for Mr. Mark Pratt Sr. will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military rites will be offered by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864. Pallbearers will be his children and Jacob Pratt, and other family members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the mausoleum from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
