Markcus Ray Salyers, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years and 9 months and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Trigg Street Church of God. He will always be remembered as a wonderful Christian husband and a loving father.
He was born to the late Hobert Salyers and Lula Page Salyers on February 1, 1937. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Bud Salyers; and five sisters, Christine Gilbert, Lois Carico, Audrey Davidson, "Bood" Shortridge, and Arlene Forish.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rita Jo Edwards Salyers; three daughters, Kathy Jordan and husband Lucky of Tulsa, OK, Donna Young and husband Mike of Brighton, MI and Debbie Bennett and husband Phil of Southfield, MI; sister, Marie Miller of Oakridge, TN; six grandchildren, Juli Idias, Andrea Bennett, Phillip Bennett, Seanna Cavallo, Aaron Young, and Nickolas Young; and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13th at the funeral home with Pastor Steven Vaughan officiating. Entombment will follow at the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Phil Bennett, Phillip Bennett, Aaron Young, Mike, Young, and Nickolas Young will serve as pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted.
